Paloma KubiakCouples jetting off to exotic long-haul destinations can enjoy a week’s holiday for under £1,000, new research reveals.
By picking the right spots in far-flung places, you can bag a bargain price for stays in Thailand, South Africa and Abu Dhabi, Voucherbox.co.uk has found.
Its researchers looked at the costs of a one-week holiday from Saturday 18 June to Saturday 25 June with return flights from London Heathrow and a double hotel room at a four-star hotel included.
They found the best money-saving resort this year was Dubai, where a couple could holiday for one week, including flights and hotel for two, for £718.
This is broken down with the flight costing £291 each for a return economy flight, and £136 for a week’s hotel stay.
Fellow United Arab Emirates destination Abu Dhabi was also a relatively cost-effective option, costing a total of £811, with flights priced at £303 each and a hotel room costing £205.
Travelling further afield, a week’s holiday to the capital of Thailand, Bangkok, can be done on a £834 budget with flights coming in at £720 and a double hotel room in the city at £114.
A holiday to Delhi in India, can be bagged for £865 for two people, while Mumbai on the west-coast comes in at £944.
And if you’d prefer a spot of safari during the week Johannesburg, the capital of South Africa, is within driving distance of the Pilanesberg National Park. A week’s holiday within the city can cost £869.
Shane Foster from VoucherBox.co.uk said: “Nowadays, more people are wanting to travel that bit further and see the world and by finding the right deals and places, it doesn’t have to be too expensive.
“There is a feeling that you have to spend months of saving to visit long-haul destinations but that isn’t the case.”
